## High-Level Tactical Summary

Staging at the Green Dragon Inn to examine the seized medallion, Will the Wise attempted an arcane attunement with the Talisman of the Eldritch Eye. The talisman's profane necrotic resonance triggered a violent supernatural backlash, burning the *Leaf of Ehlonna's Mercy* off Will's chest in a burst of black ash and permanently searing a necrotic brand over his sternum (*The Searing Brand*). The attunement activated *The Tether*, drawing a strike team of cult assassins. Renowned wizard **Archmage Tenser** intervened in the common room, neutralizing the ambushers and guiding the party to the **Sanctum of Heironeous**, where High Priests broke the tether and sealed the talisman in a lead-lined container.

## Operational Timeline & Key Tactical Beats

- **The Catastrophic Attunement:**

  - Behind locked doors in the upper chambers of the Green Dragon Inn, Will laid the Talisman of the Eldritch Eye across his chest and opened his mind to its divination weave.
  - The talisman's malignant entity awoke: black fire surged across his torso, vaporizing the sacred *Leaf of Ehlonna's Mercy* and branding a blackened, spiraling eye directly into the flesh over his heart.
  - Will collapsed in agony, suffering the permanent condition: **The Searing Brand**.
- **The Inn Ambush & Tenser's Intervention:**

  - Attuning to the talisman signaled the cult's tracking array (*The Tether*); eight masked assassins stormed the Green Dragon Inn.
  - As the party fought on the stairs, **Archmage Tenser** of the Circle of Eight materialized in a flash of cobalt light, shattering the assault with force magic and ordering the party to follow him.
- **Sanctuary & Cleansing at the Sanctum of Heironeous:**

  - Escorted by Tenser to the fortified Sanctum of Heironeous in the High Quarter.
  - High Priests administered *Remove Curse* and consecrated restorative balms, successfully severing *The Tether* and stabilizing Will's heart, though the physical brand remained permanent.
  - Tenser identified the medallion as the master key to an ancient subterranean Vecna redoubt (*Nest of the Eldritch Eye*).
  - The talisman was encased inside an impenetrable **Lead-Lined Relic Box** to shield it from planar scrying.

## Spoils, Relics & Tactical Status

- **Condition Inflicted:** **The Searing Brand** (Will the Wise — permanent necrotic scar over the heart, responsive to Vecna relics).
- **Containment Secured:** **Lead-Lined Relic Box** (House for the Talisman of the Eldritch Eye, blocking all magical detection).
- **Patron Connected:** **Archmage Tenser** establishes diplomatic contact with the party, instructing them to fulfill their oath to Tayr in Elmshire before reporting to his fortress in Magepoint.
- **Next Vector:** Marching North along the High Road into the Cairn Hills toward Elmshire.
